In Italy for New Year’s Eve

I embarked on a 10 day trip to Slovenia, Italy and Greece on the 26th of December, 2004.
I’m traveling along with a friend of mine from Sofia – Bogi, and we plan to make an extensive trip around the western part of Italy.
Right now I’m writing from Rome, where we found a really nice hotel at a reasonable price of 30euros per night which is considered very cheap for a 3-star hotel just next to the main station.
No paln was drawn so most of the travel around is on a pure improvisation and that’s why we had some great difficulties getting down to Rome. Anyway so far we got to see partly Florence, Pisa, Venice and more to be seen from Rome next morning. The weather is just great cosnidering what it’s like these days on the Balkans!
Much of Italy didn’t suprise me much but Rome is just wonderful and full of life whereas the other parts of Italy during the winter seem more asleep somehow.
